A Minute with Omissa
- August 26, Q: Omissa’s back! Tell us how that happened... Kenny - It was kind of like the Blues Brothers movie. Ron called me and asked if I was down to jam again with the guys. Ron – Actually, we got asked to play a show as Omissa, with our boys, Forthmorning and Domeshots. I missed the fellas and thought it would be cool to rock again as Omissa for a night. We started talking to everyone and it felt like the right thing to do. Q: What’s with the band member changes? Kenny - Only change was Lenny leaving. He wanted to go to recording school, and we’re all pals, so no hard feels ever came up about him leaving. Although, I do joke on stage (@#$% Lenny). Rudy - Well...Lenny left u ...

  NAMM '08 Coverage
Rocknrolivia - January 31, The 2008 Namm Show was again another big success! The four-day convention drew over 88,128 registrants and people from over one-hundred countries worldwide. Namm (National Association of Music Merchants) seemed to be larger than ever this year, with music company booths covering the upstairs and the main floors of the event at the Anaheim Convention Center. Buyers, sellers, visitors, musicians, and stars (this event is not open to the general public) could preview the latest in music technology, the latest in music equipment and gear, and surround themselves in a sort of musical heaven. Although I attended the event for a mere two days, I spotted some familiar faces. First of al ...

Olivia - January 10, Metal mongers everywhere: do you like grueling vocals, hard-core thrusting guitars, heavy duty bass lines, and unbeatably precise, fast action drums that will pound your skull to the ground? Well, then, you’ll love Carnifex. This five-man band spells nothing but power, and they’re a straight-up groveling force of excitement, forging their way to the top with their thunderous core metal and scream antics. I finally caught up with the guys in one of the greatest of San Diego death metal bands, Carnifex. The boys happened to be “kickin’ it” out in New Jersey, in some parking lot, in their van. Prior to the telephone conversation with drummer Shawn Cameron, I checked out the C ...

An Interview with 286
- November 21, PS:To familiarize our audience with 286, how long have you guys been around? Adam: We’ve been around a few years now doing our thing. Martin: The band started officially in December of 2004 when Adam (vocals) joined the band, but my brother (Nikee Verry) and myself had the idea of putting this band together before that time, I can't recall exactly since when....a couple of years maybe. PS: How’d the name, 286 come about? Martin: Well, we could tell you a long story about the name and pretend that there is a deep meaning behind it, but the truth is that we didn’t have a name, so we decided to use the number of our practice room, which is obviously 286. Adam: It’s the number of women th ...
