A Minute with Omissa
-- August 26,

Q: Omissa’s back! Tell us how that happened...

Kenny - It was kind of like the Blues Brothers movie. Ron called me and asked if I was down to jam again with the guys.

Ron – Actually, we got asked to play a show as Omissa, with our boys, Forthmorning and Domeshots. I missed the fellas and thought it would be cool to rock again as Omissa for a night. We started talking to everyone and it felt like the right thing to do.

Q: What’s with the band member changes?

Kenny - Only change was Lenny leaving. He wanted to go to recording school, and we’re all pals, so no hard feels ever came up about him leaving. Although, I do joke on stage (@#$% Lenny).

Rudy - Well...Lenny left us, so @#$% Lenny (just kidding Lenny).

Q: What are you guys working on now?

Melvin - We've been busy writing some new music and just getting out stuff back in order.

Rudy - Just writing new material, booking shows, and basically staying as busy and productive as possible. We need to get our name back out there and let people know that we're back, and ready to rock your socks off.

88,128 registrants and people from over one-hundred countries worldwide.

Namm (National Association of Music Merchants) seemed to be larger than ever this year, with music company booths covering the upstairs and the main floors of the event at the Anaheim Convention Center. Buyers, sellers, visitors, musicians, and stars (this event is not open to the general public) could preview the latest in music technology, the latest in music equipment and gear, and surround themselves in a sort of musical heaven.

Although I attended the event for a mere two days, I spotted some familiar faces. First of all, Yngway Malmsteen was at the Marshall booth "doing business." Then, as I approached the EMG booth, I found a few members of Zack Wylde's Black Label Society (minus Zack).

Other musical icons I'd seen at Namm included members of Alice in Chains, and of course everyone's favorite, Slash! There were rumors of Kerry King's (Slayer) presence, as well. The following day was very enlightening, to say the least. I found myself facing some of metal's greatest artists, all in one section-ESP Guitars, where I put these guys to work signing autographs for my 13-year-old son and his band. (We're talkin' metal axe-players galore).

The Men of Omissa.

Q: You had a gig with OTEP, which is pretty impressive! Tell us about that.

Ron – Ahh, yeah! August 7th at the 12 galaxies! Chris Lommori of Lommori Productions hooked it up for us. Very, very much appreciated too! HELL YEAH!

Q: Tell us about your out-of-this-world plans for the future.

Ron – Ha, easy: “Cribs,” bitch! Naw. For real? I just want to see the world, and be able to do it because of music.

Rudy - We're gonna take over the world.

Kenny - To have our band “Omissa” inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame!

Melvin - OMISSA WORLD ARENA TOUR 2009. That would be cool.
