Hybrid Soul is a band from San Jose, CA who is slowly gaining recognition in the Northern California metal scene. The band was formed around mid-April of 1999 under the name of Wasabi, which consisted of only 4 members (Erick, Norman, Edgar and Allen). Soon after the addition of Jerrold in May, the true mayhem began. With a new lead vocalist, the band soon changed their name to Nuisance and then to Odium. With so many changes the band finally stuck with their new and final name, Hybrid Soul.
Hybrid Soul consists of Jerrold (Vocals), Edgar (Guitarist), Norman (Guitarist), Erick (Bassist), and Allen (Drums). Each individual member brings a unique characteristic in the band. The formation of Hybrid Soul is pure destiny. Each member comes from a different musical background and region of California. From the North- Central- South regions of California, Hybrid Soul is a force to be reckoned with. The various musical interests of each band member from hard rock, hip-hop, old and new metal is what makes Hybrid Soul create the aggressive and fierce sound that you hear on stage.
Hybrid Soul is all about aggression! "The people that listen to our music is what keeps us going to create the music we love!" A good way to describe Hybrid Souls music is: The Brutal Assault On All Your Senses!!!
The band is a tight unit, and consider themselves a family. They can't practice and definitely can't perform without one another. To them, it just doesn't feel right. It takes all the individual talents of each group member for them to orchestrate total insanity. Enduring many obstacles like any other band, Hybrid Soul is all about the music and not color. You may see the band use face paint while on stage. The face paint represents how each band member feels that particular show. There is never a constant look each member keeps. The uniqueness of this band is what makes their shows chaotic. From the vicious rhythms of the guitars, to the aggressive drums, heavy bass, and fierce vocals: Hybrid Soul is pure insanity.
