The spring of 1998 was no usual one. While the sun was finally emerging from its
winter long dormancy and life began to flourish again somewhere within the depths
of the east bay a menace was being born. This menace would come to be known as
Lethal Dose.
Lethal Dose were formed by old friends who shared a passion for loud, aggressive
violent music so it was only natural that they came together to create a band
in the same vein as the bands they grew up listening to. Among those influences
were bands who originally brought metal to it's zenith such as Slayer, Sepultura,
Mercyful Fate, and also those bands who have carried the torch into the 90's and
beyond like Pantera, Machine Head, and Nailbomb. Another key influence due to
their riff-based approach to song writing is the mighty Black Sabbath. Lethal
Dose have created a sound as varied as it is unique. One listen to their live
set will show fragments of every kind of metal from speed to thrash and even the
occasional touch of black metal.
Halloween 1998 saw the live debut of Lethal Dose in San Lorenzo. Playing heavy
hitters such as "Void," "Maniac," the fan favorite "Into The Light," among other
originals and a cover of the Misfits classic "Halloween" they dazzelled the crowd
with their display of heavy grooves and blistering speed. With several more shows
under their belt Lethal Dose have launched an all out attack on the heavy metal
scene and are preparing to set the club scene ablaze.
Lethal Dose are sometime in the winter of 2000 Lethal Dose will release their
first full length demo. It will mark the day that the bay area finally sees the
rise of the old school versus the new school wrapped up in a single entity. Let
the Beatdown begin.
