Tramontane is the San Francisco/Bay Area's premier power metal group. Forming in the late ‘80s, the band immediately received positive press for their early demos and held a strong fan base despite the rise of alternative music and lack of interest in Heavy Metal. Tramontane defiantly released recordings of their material and continued to gain a larger following with each new effort. Over the years, the Tramontane line-up has gone through many different changes while still keeping the same power and emotion their fans have come to expect. From the overwhelming responses the band received after performing new material, the band was eager to get back into the studio and record what was to become their 1998 EP "December Dark". In August of ‘98, "December Dark" was made public and was welcomed with rave reviews. Tramontane's song "Another Time" received much radio airplay and was featured on many "best of" compilations. Playing live to support their album throughout the rest of ‘98 and most of '99, Tramontane began to catch the attention of metal fans everywhere. Whether it was through a downloaded MP3 file, or through a stellar live show, the message was clear - Tramontane delivers. After a successful year, Tramontane began writing new material for their next release "The End of Tribulation". Unfortunately in 2000 just as writing for the next album was concluding founding guitarist Michael Morris decided to call it a day and bassist John Naas followed, leaving the three remaining members at a crossroad. Drummer Walter Massenkoff & Vocalist Norman Skinner went on to form Machine Called Man and Guitarist John Antonioli decided to devote his time to his family and career. As a result the band was put on an extended hiatus and lay dormant….until now. In 2004 a new Tramontane line-up consisting of Norman Skinner (vocals), Manol Manolov (guitar), Walter Massenkoff (drums) and Craig Lemoge (guitar) was formed. The songs from “The End Of Tribulation” demo sessions were dug up from the archives and brought back to life. The new Tramontane has been hard at work; rehearsing and holding auditions for the remaining bass player position. "The End of Tribulation", featuring the original demo songs as well as new compositions, will finally be recorded & released this year, followed by live appearances in support of the release. Be on the lookout as another chapter in the Tramontane saga unfolds!
