Formed in 1997, Battle Angel began as a three piece band and hit the streets of San Francisco with it's original metal groove. The band consisted of Ray De La Cruz on bass and lead vocals, Bobby Simcox on lead guitar and Rodney Quiros on drums. After playing small venues for two years and recording a four song demo, the band faced an almost vertical challenge as Ray De La Cruz took extended time off in 1999. Rodney and Bobby decided to continue on and enlisted a new bassist. They recruited Dan Garrett who is not only a bassist but a computer programmer too! Dan encouraged the band to take advantage of the marketing possibilities of the internet and signed them up on MP3.com and built their web site.
In 2000, Ray(30) returned to Battle Angel as lead vocalist and rhythm guitar. Bobby(39) continued as lead guitarist, Dan(39) on bass and Rodney(35) on drums. Battle Angel recorded their current four song demo and posted the music on the internet for the world to hear.
Battle Angel's music is heavily influenced by classic metal styles as well as contemporary styles. The band doesn't chase the latest musical trends, but remains true to their unique combination of vocal harmonies, lightning guitar work and solid rhythmic foundation.
Interest in Battle Angel's music has been coming in from around the world due to the exposure on MP3.com. Battle Angel fans e-mail the band from Europe, Asia, Indonesia, Latin America as well as here at home in the North America.
Battle Angel plans to record new music during 2001 and 2002 with the intention of releasing a self-produced independent CD and they are planning more live shows in the near future.
