 | Growth of Alliance is out Port Costa, California (east bay). The band consists of Kevin Gautschi on vocals/guitar, Dylan Gautschi on bass/backup vocals, Hans List on Drums, and Betty Jo List on percussion/keyboards.
The band started out as a jam session in the basement of Hans’ garage. With Dylan on guitar, Hans on drums, and Pam (Dylan’s mom), former bassist from Leila and the Snakes, on bass. Kevin began to pick up the guitar, Dylan changed over to bass, and One Eyed Willie was formed. With such songs as Moby Saves the World, Chancellors Box, and Why Fight It, the band laid out its strong foundation. After years of jamming in Port Costa and with the addition of Betty Jo List on Percussion and keys, the band changed its name to Growth of Alliance and continued to develop its own original sound. Growth of Alliance released its first full length album; Spread the Word, in spring of 2000. After recording their second album at Studio D (Sausalito) and mixing at Studio 880(Oakland), the band released their second self-titled demo in spring 2001. Growth of Alliance signed a production deal in fall 2001 with producers Michael Rosen and Tone. The latest release was recorded at Skyline Studios (Oakland), Studio 880(Oakland) and mixed at Fantasy Studios (Oakland).
Growth of Alliance is a hard hitting rock band with a funky undertone and catchy choruses that deliver. Melodic, non-barking, yet powerful vocals lead the bands sound which is comparable to The Police, Foo-Fighters, and Incubus. The rhythm section provides a solid backdrop for catchy lead guitar lines and groovy percussive jams. Over the years, the band has managed to create a sound which is remarkably original, yet not too obscure for the average mainstream listener to enjoy.
The band has been playing out for about 3 years and has developed a following by playing such venues as The Maritime Hall(SF), The Pound(SF), Gilman Street(Berkeley), Three Oaks(Vacaville), Splitfire(Vacaville), Depot(Concord), Cactus Club(San Jose), Playhouse(Pinole), Scratch8(Sac), and all kinds of other crazy, underground places you don’t want to know about!
The band recently put out a new EP titled ‘Why Fight It?’ and most agree that it is their best work to date.
