Powerslave.com, which is the primary holding of WiseWeb Trading Corporation, offers the following positions:
Powerslave.com is currently seeking journalism interns and contributing writers/photographers in the Sacramento, Chico, East Bay, Santa Cruz and Central Valley regions. A $30 stipend will be paid for each submission published on Powerslave.com.
Writers MUST have:
- Access to a computer with reliable Internet access
- Access to reliable transportation
- An understanding and passion of the Nor Cal metal scene
- Basic knowledge of proper grammar and spelling
The following skills are a plus but are NOT REQUIRED:
- Deadline oriented
- Journalism/English/Writing background
- Strong reporting skills or insatiable curiosity about the scene
- Ability to develop and creative sometimes whimsical approaches to story generation
Writers will work closely with the Powerslave.com editorial staff. Although many projects will be assigned, writers are strongly encouraged to suggest ideas for both reviews and feature oriented submissions. Writers will need to be available on weekends for assignments; an occasional weeknight assignment may occur. Writers must be comfortable subjecting their submissions to constructive editing, feedback and alterations based on Powerslave.com's discretion. Powerslave.com uses Associated Press writing guidelines.

- At least three writing samples (published or unpublished); diversity is encouraged and samples do not have to be music related.
- At least one personal and/or professional reference
- A cover letter stating qualifications and desires for this internship

For Interns Only/College Credit:
Interns not currently enrolled at an accredited college or university may be able to use this experience for future internship credit. The internship will also allow aspiring writers to begin building a portfolio of writing clips and professional photography to use for future job searches. Interns will be required to write at least three pieces per month (subject to change) which can amount to a solid portfolio of entertainment writing samples. Interns will also be listed on the Powerslave.com staff page, past and present, for the sake of reference checking.
Interns currently enrolled in their college's Journalism, Communications or English programs may be able to obtain college credit for their work. If you're interested in fulfilling the internship for college credit, please include a copy of your internship requirements with your application package. Powerslave.com is willing to work with students to tailor an internship to fit their needs, pending approval from their accredited college or university.

Members of active bands, promotion companies, media outlets and labels in the Northern California underground metal scene are not eligible for this internship. Any writers who fall into said categories are welcome to submit articles and photos to the Powerslave.com Slaves Quarters for publication consideration. A comprehensive list of rules and guidelines will be provided for any interns added to the Powerslave.com staff. The internship duration is at least four months, with negotiable terms based on interest, need and availability. Interns may be asked to provide additional writing samples after the initial screening process. Interns will also need to participate in a phone interview with the Powerslave.com editorial staff prior to consideration. Powerslave.com may cancel this internship program at any time.
