November 3, 2005 The Jumping Turtle was home to yet another show, Friday November 3rd, as four local San Diego bands rocked the venue. What was initially to be "just another gig" became a disaster relief fundraiser for one local music industry affiliate named Griz, who lost his Ramona home in the 2007 San Diego fires. Those fires, by the way, set records nationwide making San Diego the largest evacuation in a city ever in the history of America.
Opening the show was Axxys, a five-piece group of Escondido rockers who took the stage by storm. The band, made up of “kid” rock’n’rollers ages 12 to 15, were quite impressive!

August 18, 2005 Once again, I found myself at the Jumping Turtle (the best and only live music venue in North San Diego County), anticipating a Powerslave.com show guaranteed to deliver the massive dose of METAL that I so desperately needed.
I knew the first band up was called Full Revolution. Making sure to allow myself easy access to the stage, I settled in for the show.
Taking a look around me, I noticed several adults that you could tell were associated with the band getting ready to play. I noted mostly how supportive and proud they were of these guys-Parents? A definitely distinct possibility, a good looking bunch, still young themselves, passing the "metal legacy" on to the next gene ... Full Review

March 24, 2005 This year's installment of the Murderfest Version 3.0 was sure to be a smashing success. Not just because last year's show was a success, but because this year had some very special reunited death and grind legends playing exclusive to Los Angeles area fans.
Night number one was a must for any true fan of old school Florida style death metal, as the pioneers of the sound, Obituary, headlined. Playing before Obituary was none other than technical death metal masters, Atheist! Preceding Atheist was a very special show from Repulsion, a band many refer to as the true fathers of grind core metal.
As the crowd gathered near the main stage of the Knitting Factory, the commoti ... Full Review

February 19, 2005 Ireland’s 32, an Irish bar located in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond district, didn’t exactly look like a place that routinely handled live music seven nights per week. I could see a troupe of red haired traditionalists all named Seamus playing drinking songs with fiddles, accordions, and uilleann pipes every now and then, but this bar definitely wasn’t where I would expect to find a few local modern rock bands banging away. The walls were plastered with rusted tin beer signs and vintage campaign banners for expired Irish elections.
Waiting for the show to start, I pulled up a stool at the bar and asked the gray-haired bartender for a glass of water. He looked at me with an expressi ... Full Review
